Turning $0 to $1,000 In Solitary Confinement

My School Uniform is Like a Prisoner's | Animated Story about Innocent Convicts

You might think that we are all young criminals and hooligans, but this is not true at all. I even find it offensive when people think that way about me and my classmates. We are absolutely ordinary schoolchildren, but I will explain you everything about our uniform. I live in a very small town and we have only one school. Actually, I've lived here for only a year because my dad had to move here for work. It is cold here both in winter and in summer, there are no entertainments here and sometimes I don't really want to live in such conditions. This is absolutely horrible. And if I had my way, I would stay away from this place. When I came to my new school for the first time, I was just horrified because it seemed to me that I was in a real juvenile prison but not in an educational institution. Well, what else could I think when I saw a bunch of orange teenagers? That was awful! When one of the girls, who was, of course, wearing a uniform, came up to me, I jumped up from fear. I did not expect anything good from her. "I’m Lana, and you?" she asked. I’ve been hesitating for a few seconds and only after that decided to give an answer. After general phrases, I asked her why she ended up here. And Lana answered, “Well, how to say it, I'm 13 and every child at this age should study. Apparently, I got here because of my age." She started laughing, while I was thoughtful. In fact, I really thought that I was mistakenly sent to the prison colony that’s why I was really scared as well as puzzled and Lana's words confused me even more. But I pulled myself together and said that I was there by pure chance and I was just about to go home. I was not a criminal and I was not guilty of anything, therefore I did not belong to this institution. In response, Lana started laughing and said that I still had to undergo punishment, and after that, she told me about that school. I got to know that 150 years ago, in the place where our city is located today, there was a huge prison, where criminals from all over the country were serving their sentences. Unfortunately, there were not only those who really broke the law, but also the innocent ones. But the fact that one day it turned out that innocent people go to prison not by chance was even more terrifying. As a rule, these were those who fall foul of the dishonest and cruel mayor of a neighboring city, who had ties with prison managers. Thus, public figures, human rights activists, journalists and just those who were opposing the regime of the formidable mayor were serving sentences there apart from the actual criminals. But this could not go on forever, and the president learned about the lawlessness that was taking place. Rather, he got to know about the mayor's atrocities and immediately removed him from office, but at the same time, he knew nothing about his innocent victims who were incarcerated within the walls of the prison. And the innocent continued to be imprisoned until they were finally fed up with this. Then there broke out violent riots and protests in the prison during which some of the convicts managed to escape. This drew attention to the institution and very soon Mr. President learned that there were a lot of innocent people in the prison. He immediately ordered to punish prison managers and release all those who were there illegally. This story involved many investigations, trials, and scandals. As a result, after 2 years, the prison ceased to exist completely. Its building was empty for a long time, until one of the former prisoners, who had illegally served his sentence there for 5 years, decided to turn it into a school and build a whole city around it. Hundreds of families from nearby states were gradually settling in the city, and children began to attend our school. But the founder of the institution, Mr. Thomson, introduced a very unusual rule for all students. They were supposed to attend classes only wearing a special uniform... the orange prison uniform. I was shocked by this story and asked Lana why Mr. Thomson did this. This was a very strange choice because a lot of pain and suffering in his life was associated with the orange uniform... But Lana did not know the answer to this question, one could only guess it, but no one was able to say for sure that it was true. As for Mr. Thomson, he actually died long ago. Well, now I could at least breathe a sigh of relief and stop thinking that I was sent to a juvenile prison. But as for the uniform, I would actually like to know a little more about it. By the way, after my first day at school, I turned into one of the orange students because I was also given a prisoner's uniform with my information, such as surname, name, class, blood type and phone number of my parents, written on my pocket. I don't know why, but I associated it with the punishment card and for a long time, I was trying to get used to the new school and my image there....
